Boyd Gaming announced Monday, May 18, it will reopen seven of its U.S. casinos in the coming weeks, five in Louisiana and two in Mississippi.

The Kenner riverboat reopened two days after most of the other properties in the state. Amelia Belle, which reopened more than a week later than the other boats, was down 89.6% from $4.1 million.

Boyd’s New Casino and Resort Policies

Each property reopening shared a short video produced by Boyd highlighting the company’s new health and safety protocols. Additionally, the company shared new cleaning policies on its website. All guests are being encouraged to wear facial coverings to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Boyd’s casinos in Louisiana and Mississippi will provide customers with complimentary personal protective equipment (PPE). Resort hotel rooms will no longer be cleaned on a daily basis to limit contact between staff and guests. Boyd’s hotel rooms will be supplied with extra towels to minimize the need for housekeeping visits.

Boyd plans to provide single-use condiments and napkins in all dining locations. Restaurants and bars are subject to reduced capacity limits to provide enough space for social distancing.

For casino properties with sportsbooks, the company’s updated policy states that every other betting window will be open to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Seating will be rearranged to allow customers adequate distance from each other.

'While the amenities our customers have come to know and love may be somewhat limited for the time being, the ability to safely welcome back our team members and guests remains our top priority. With this in mind, we have been working closely with the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, state and local leaders, and public health officials to finalize comprehensive Phase I reopening protocols and new health and safety precautions. Our returning team members will be trained on these procedures and our guests will see reminder signage about them throughout the property. Social Distancing

  • We will limit capacity on our gaming floor to no more than 50% and disable 25% of our gaming positions.
  • The installation of floor decals and signage to strictly enforce social distancing guidelines in areas where lines typically form.
  • Table game seating will be limited, and every other slot machine will be disabled.
  • Live music, entertainment, and banquet services will remain suspended.
  • There will be no large drawings, tournaments, or special events.
  • Bayou Market Express is open.
  • Bayou Market on the Geaux is open with five, staffed stations of Boomtown Favorites.

Health & Safety

  • Team members will be required to wear masks and will undergo a health screening each day, including temperature checks, prior to their shift.
  • Guests and vendors will be required to have their temperature checked before entering the property and will be encouraged to wear masks.
  • Slot machines and table games will be thoroughly and regularly cleaned throughout the day.
  • Sanitizer stations will be installed on the casino floor and be readily available throughout the facility.
  • The property will close from 5 a.m. – 8 a.m. every day, during which time we will deploy a fog machine to disinfect and sanitize the property.
